Where this is going

Robots should be able to find what went wrong and get back to work. At selfpatch.ai we are building toward robots and production lines that repair themselves.

The loop starts with a real diagnostic stack: the machine reports a fault with the evidence around it. AI analysis works out the cause and proposes a fix. The fix goes to the machine over the air. Test routines check that it worked, with rollback if it did not. What was learned stays in the system, so the next machine with the same fault heals faster.

Machines handle their failures, people spend their time on what comes next.

What you work on

The platform and the engineering problems behind it, on the robot and across fleets and factories.

It builds on ros2_medkit, our open-source project in the official ROS 2 distribution, which robot makers run and contribute to. We presented it on the main track at ROSCon Global 2026 in Toronto.

Why people join

A hard problem every robotics team has and nobody has solved well. Software that runs on real machines, not in a demo. Code that is public, in a project other engineers already depend on.

You work directly with the founders, help decide what we build and have the trust to see it through. No layers, no tickets written for you, no waiting for approval.

Who we look for

Engineers who take responsibility for making things work. You can turn an open problem into useful software and follow through when it reaches the field. You like deciding what needs doing. You explain your thinking, help others and change your mind when the evidence calls for it. You want a hand in building the company.

Our work spans ROS 2 and C++ on the robot, Rust and TypeScript on the platform, AI agents that reason about faults, OTA updates, and industrial protocols on the factory floor. Bring depth in one area and curiosity about the others.

The offer

  • EUR 5,000-8,000 a month, excl. VAT, on a B2B contract, full time.
  • Fully remote, from Poland or Europe.
  • Equity for people who take ownership.

Send us your CV as a PDF and a few lines on each question. Include your name so we know how to address you.

  1. Why will you do well in a startup where nobody writes tickets for you and the problem is yours from idea to a fix on the machine?
  2. How many years have you owned software running in production, where you were the person fixing it when it broke? Tell us about one of those fixes.

Keep it relevant to the role. Please leave out photos, identity documents, health or family details, and confidential information from previous employers.
